Community Involvement and Education Support

The KERN team is committed to supporting our community and helping those in need. In addition to monetary donations, KERN employees actively give their time in the community.

Causes that KERN has recently supported include:

STARS Air Ambulance - Dedicated to providing a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured.
United Way - Examines the underlying causes of social problems - such as poverty - and develops long-term solutions to reduce and even eliminate them.
Clayton Woitas Scholarship - Established by KERN to recognize the contributions made by Clayton on the KERN Advisory Board. Scholarship supports engineering students at the University of Alberta.

Banff Centre - For over 70 years, The Banff Centre has provided professional career development and lifelong learning for artists and cultural leaders in performing, literary, new media, and visual arts.

Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation – Funds used for excellence in child health & family centred care.

Social Venture Capital Partners - Seeks to address big-picture structural social challenges in an innovative way.

YWCA - Dedicated to breaking the cycles of domestic violence, homelessness and poverty.
Sonshine Community Services - Is a one-year residential facility with counseling and supportive services for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
HomeFront - Calgary's unique coordinated community response to domestic violence. 

Down Syndrome Research Foundation - Formed in 1995 in response to the need for detailed and research-based information for themselves and for the community at large.

Island Wildlife Natural Care Centre - Dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.
